Terms of play

Draft: to be checked before launch.

Short version: it's a free game for fun. Play fair, be nice, and don't use it to plan anything important.

The game

• WeatherOrNot is free. There's no money involved and, for now, no prizes. Points are only for bragging rights.
• It's for towns in the UK, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands that are close enough to an official weather station.
• Results come from the nearest station's reports. If no station has a full day of readings, we use a forecast model's estimate and say so.
• If a reading is clearly wrong, we may scrap that question for everyone. Everyone who answered gets 5 points (10 if doubled). Our decision is final.

Play fair

• One account per person. No bots or automated answers.
• Pick a player name that's not offensive and doesn't pretend to be someone else.
• We may remove names, scores or accounts that break these rules.

The small print

• WeatherOrNot is a game, not a weather service. Don't rely on it for safety, travel, farming, or anything else that matters. Check the Met Office.
• We'll do our best to keep the game running and the results right, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free.
• We may change the game or these terms. If it's a big change, we'll say so in the game.
